What Does My Student Need to Know before Beginning Level 5?
Students should complete All About Spelling Level 4 before starting Level 5. All About Spelling is a building block program: each level builds upon the previous one. In order to build a strong foundation, most students start with Level 1. If you have questions, please contact us and we'd be happy to help!
What will my student learn in Level 5?
In Level 5, your student will continue to learn encoding skills, reliable spelling rules, and multisensory strategies for spelling, along with exciting new concepts including 12 new phonograms, prefixes, strategies for multisyllable words, abbreviations, and words with unaccented A. Phonological awareness and encoding skills are taught throughout Level 5. Below is a sampling in each area:
Learn phonograms SI, IE, OUGH, UI, GN, OUR, and CI
Spell words with the sound of /shun/ spelled SION, such as confession
Spell words with OR and AR in unaccented syllables, such as doctor and dollar
Spell more words with Silent E, such as escape and sentence
Spell words ending in SS, such as princess
Spell words with /eks/ and /egz/ spelled EX, as in except and exam
Spell words with /e/ spelled EI and IE, as in receive and achieve
Spell words with the sound of /kt/ spelled CT, as in collect
Just wanted to send you a note to tell how much we love your spelling program! My son is 11 and he just finished 5th grade. Going into 5th grade he was at a 3rd grade spelling level. At the end of 5th grade we had him tested again. We completed levels 1 through 5 this year. Now, because of All About Spelling, he is on a 6th grade spelling level!!! Awesome! Thanks to your program, we can brag about his measurable improvement. I recommend it to everyone I can. Thank you!!!!
The most effective curriculum

All I can say is...Wow! I have never been this excited over a Spelling program in, well, ever! All About Spelling is hands down, the most effective spelling curriculum we've ever used. This is one program I'm definitely going to save for my grandchildren (however far off they might be!). Because you can almost guarantee there's going to be at least one who will struggle with spelling as much as Ethan, and All About Spelling will be patiently waiting. I cannot recommend this program enough!
"Bad" spellers CAN improve!

In the past, there wasn't much choice, and children who were lousy spellers became adults who were lousy spellers. Now that has changed. All About Spelling uses various methods to encourage engaging the spelling words from many different learning styles and encourages repetition to develop mastery.
Helps all learning styles

I just want to begin by saying: I love this spelling program. Being a homeschooler usually involves teaching in various ways to suit your particular children. My oldest daughter is more of a auditory and visual learner, while my middle daughter is more of a hands-on type learner. All About Spelling fits both. And that is nothing short of amazing.
